Weddings at Wesley
United Methodist Church

Wesley Church is committed to being supportive and flexible as you plan your wedding. Our sanctuary will seat up to 300 people, has a center asile, is fully handicap assessible, and makes an excellent setting for weddings. We can assist you in finding photographers, florist, DJ's, and musicians. We invite you meet with the pastor early in the planning process to create a unique and dignified wedding ceremony. Your pastor has officiated at many wedding ceremonies and can advise you on the details of the service.

To reserve the sanctuary for a wedding you must:

Contact the pastor and

Return a Wedding Information sheet to the church office.
(this can be done online at www.wesleychurch.info)

Make an appointment for the bride and groom to meet with the pastor. At least one, and maybe several sessions with the pastor will be provided. The date can only be reserved after an initial interview with the pastor.

Fees charged by the church:

We at Wesley know that at this time, you have lots of things to spend your money on. Accordingly we will provide all our services without charge. If you wish, an honorarium for the pastor and a donation to the church may be made. The pastor can give you guidance on this matter

Some important issues:

You will not be allowed to distribute rice, bird seed, or anything else to be thrown at the bride and groom. Bubbles are O.K.
Alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs may not be used at the church.
A license must be obtained from the Jefferson County Clerks office prior to the ceremony.
The church has a carpeted center aisle. Special permission must be obtained to use a special runner.
All decorations must be placed without the use of tape or gummy adhesives.
Only minimal use of the sanctuary for pictures following the ceremony will be allowed.
All music will need to be planned with the pastor.
A rehearsal is usually held the evening before the wedding,
The bride and groom will be expected to appear before the congregation at a worship service on a Sunday preceding the Wedding date, to declare their intentions. This is a simple straightforward ceremony that enables the congregation to see you and to give their blessing to the marriage. You are welcome to invite friends and family to witness this event.
